how did you spend your new year's eve?

Normally Dad and I would be in bed at the usual 10pm or before, but we had tickets with Lindsay to First Night Virginia. It was a lot of fun. We went to three performances at various locations near the downtown mall. A highlight for Dad was Abbey Road which was 5 men playing Beatles songs. It was held at the Omni Hotel and so there was a big dance floor and it was fun to watch dancers of all ages! There was 30 minutes between the one hour performances so we were darting about in the rain with umbrellas to find the next one. It actually went from 2:30pm to midnight with lots of different options, but we were only there from about 5pm to 10pm. I would love to hear what everyone else did!

Jamie and I had a pretty low-key evening. We made a great new recipe -- beef tenderloin topped with Stilton cheese and fried shallots. A real treat, as the beef was really expensive! :(

Then we watched the movie "All the King's Men" with Sean Penn, Anthony Hopkins, and a whole cast of good actors. I think for the most part we liked it -- sad but very well done. Sean Penn was great in it, as he usually is.

We crashed around 11pm, but were then woken up at midnight by fireworks downtown, at 2am by Abby's phone call, and at 4am by our darn rooster who proceeded to squak the rest of the morning until about 8am. Thank goodness he's getting a new home this week!

happy new year everyone!

I called you at 2am? I don't have a record of that on my phone. Are you sure it was me?
