I don't care too much about President's Day, but I'll take the day off! I hope some of you are getting to enjoy a day off as well.
Just thought I would say it again that I am crazy about the www.kiva.org site that Darcy and Jamie gave us a gift card for at Christmas. I can't get enough of reading the stories about the third world entrepreneurs and the people who give to them. It's a wonderful idea.
Also, I don't know if anyone has looked at Heifer.org but that's another good one for giving gifts to friends.
Dad, how's the bee keeping class going? What have you learned?
John and I are taking an introductory Spanish class and I'm already dreaming in Spanish! Apparently, last night I woke John up saying, "My name is Elizabeth Ochenta" which is the number eighty! I guess that's a good sign!?
One other website I want to pass on is http://www.gutenberg.org which is the site for Project Gutenberg. It's basically an online library of books that you can download and read... legally.
One last thing... John's parents make great margaritas at home so I finally got the recipe and love it. I don't know if you guys ever drink them but here's the recipe in case:
one can of frozen limeade (use the can to measure out the rest of the ingredients)
three cans of water
one can of Triple Sec
one can of tequila
serve over ice
Not much of a winter drink, but very tasty with homemade tacos!

Thanks, Elizabeth, for the ramblings. I really enjoy them from you all.
I've only been to one bee keeping class thus far. Last week's was cancelled due to the snow and ice storm what was moving through. The first class dealt mainly with understanding the differences in the queen, worker, and drone bees. The worker bees last about 500 miles of flight (usually about 2-3 months). Each worker bee produces about 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey. Now I know why you have over 75,000 bees to a hive! The next class is this Wednesday. I still have to find out if my neighborhood will allow a hive of bees in my backyard.
I stripped off the wallpaper in the upstair's hall bathroom. It was beginning to peel a bit. We're not sure what color we want to paint it. Any suggestions?
stay with the earthtones. maybe a nice yellow in honor of bees!
thanks for the websites and recipe liz. i've been checking out kiva. i like it. do you know much about sweatshop free clothing brands?
one can of tequila?! woohoo! just kidding. i'm not a huge margarita fan but i might have to give that recipe a try for a party or something. whenever i make the walker's white wine sangria (i think it's their recipe) it's always a big hit!
donorschoose.com is a cool giving site. it's based on teachers who instead of writing grants for needs in the classroom, make requests on this website that you can browse through. similar to kiva in that you can choose exactly where and how your money is spent.
charitynavigator.com is a really good site if you want to check out some credentials on charities that you are interested in giving towards at some point. i used them to find out some more information on a donation i wanted to make.
